What you do

The total value of mineral resources in the Kingdom exceeds $1.3 trillion! The Kingdom aims to increase the production of base metals and precious metals to 10 times the current production. Therefore, mineral wealth is very important in helping to achieve the goals set in Vision 2030.

That's why Geologists can be very helpful and therefore, might be a lucrative career path for you!

As a Geologist, your job is to study the materials, processes, and history of the Earth. You investigate how rocks are formed and what has happened to them since their formation.

If you work in the oil and gas or mineral industry, you will help mining companies locate and extract natural resources and ensure safe waste disposal. 

The tough stuff

The disadvantages of being a Geologist are:

  • Work conditions are hot, cold, muddy, or dusty
  • Areas are often remote and can be dangerous
  • You need to be fit to hike and strong to carry equipment
  • Demand for these jobs fluctuates with the economy

  • It is a very rewarding career if you enjoy being active and outside
